Pennsylvania in Paint

The mountains in Pennsylvania are beautiful!

In October of 2015, my family and I drove from Michigan to Delaware for my cousin’s wedding. We went through the Adirondack Mountains in Pennsylvania. It was stunning!

Along the way we checked out some historical sites. On the way down, we stopped at the United Flight 93 Memorial near Shanksville, PA. It’s a beautiful, somber memorial to the heroes who fought the terrorists that had hijacked their plane on September 11, 2001.

On our way home, we went through Gettysburg, PA.  It’s equally beautiful and somber, but from a much different time of American history. Thousands upon thousands of young Americans died in battle there, many of them unknown.

I was surprised at how vast the site is. The whole town is one vast memorial, with monuments, historical homes, and old cemeteries throughout. We spent a few hours in Gettysburg. I suggest you spend a few days.
