Last summer I had a booth at the Eagle Harbor Art Fair in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. After the show ended for the day, I took a short drive to the “Jam Pot” Monastery. This is a community of monks who live and work on the shore of Lake Superior. They make and sell thimble berry jam, among other delicious delights in their store, The Jam Pot.
The grounds surrounding the monastery are a blooming jungle of floral fancy. There are beds of lilies that nearly go to the beach. I took several pictures and combined about four of them to create the painting above.
