In the brilliant fall of 2012, I took my wife and the Boy to Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains. Now, as far as mountains go, ”the Porkies” don’t compare in height to the Black Hills in South Dakota, Rockies in Colorado, or the Sangre de Cristo in New Mexico. But these rolling hills, covered in a hardwood forest, dropping into Lake Superior offer some of the best views of autumn scenery in the Midwest!
I discovered two artists busy working. They had come all the way from Ohio to paint here. I talked briefly with one of them, the one in this painting. She was very friendly. Her painting was fabulous! I wish I could remember her name. The other one was in the zone, I suppose, and not very chatty.
